There are so many cultural events this month and we are excited to share them with you! It seems like we get so busy in our day-to-day that we forget about what’s going on around us. Coming up Albuquerque is hosting The Gathering Of Nations PowWow, held April 26, 27, & 28 at the Tingley Coliseum/Expo right here in ABQ and we hope to see you there!
This is one event that we LOVE to go to when we get the chance! Beware: If you’re buying tickets at the door, they only accept cash.
When you buy tickets to the Gathering of Nations, you’ll be exposed to a slough of cultural stimulation. Home of the Miss Indian World Pageant, there will be singing, dancing, and the Horse & Rider Regalia Parade.
Of course, what good would the Gathering of Nations be if there weren’t plenty of Native food vendors and artists selling their beautiful, handcrafted jewelry. In between watching the 2 day Pageant and the Crowning of the new Miss Indian World, there will be plenty of live music featuring Native American music performances and sources of entertainment!
Flint Carney, a long time friend and member of the Kiowa tribe, who said, “The greatest thing about the Gathering of Nations is the respect that is shown to all Native people of the world.”
The Gathering of Nations started 35 years ago as a place for Native American people to come together to celebrate their culture, hold a Pageant that is fair to the Native American people and customs and showcases their unique style of music and lifestyle equally. Everyone is welcome to join and best believe you’ll see us out there!
